September 22, 2014- Didn't See That One Coming!

Didn't See That One Coming......

FAMILY!! What is up?? S/o to mom for consistently writing me! I love you!!:) Everyone else in the fam...come on now..don't be getting lazy on me!

So this week has been a little bit interesting.  Last week I wrote you guys about all the miracles that have been happening right!? So God works in mysterious ways and well..I'm not in the area of Constituyentes anymore.

I received a call from President Rogers Monday in the afternoon after I e-mailed and was just on cloud 9 and he said Elder Lamb, I need your help.  I said ok President what do you need and he told me that he needed me to be the Secretary of the mission.  My heart dropped and I couldn't respond quick but eventually I was able to mumble, "yes sir", and he said he would see me in his office 9 o'clock the next morning on Tuesday.  I honestly just started crying.  The office was the LAST place I ever wanted to be on my mission.  So I went in to his office Tuesday morning and he pulled me in for an interview.  We talked about family and stuff for a second and then he asked how I felt about coming to the office.  I was honest with him and told him "President,  I'm not gonna lie..this is the last place I want to be right now."  He looked at me and said..."That's exactly why you're here Elder Lamb."

Super confused he went on to tell me that he needed somebody responsible that works crazy hard and would hate being in the office all day.  He told me it was my challenge to get all the missionary visa, documents, passports, bus and plane tickets, and about 20 more things done and still be able to leave the office and work.  He wants to change the whole office around and it's starting now.  I told him he'd have no problem and that I'm here to work and not sit around.  He kept laughing and told me he's only heard about how hard I work and knew that I had to be in this position.

Sooooooo this is definitely new.  I am SO BUSY all the time! But it really makes me take advantage of being able to talk to everyone I see in the street because that time is so limited.

Well, my Comp is Elder Nelson and I couldn't be more pumped about that.  He went to Lone Peak but moved to Cali when we moved to Utah! We know all the same people and are already just best friends.  All Elder Nelson wants to do is work as well.  Even if all we have is 5 minutes to spare we run outside and try and find people to talk to.  Our goal is to get a baptism in the office so we just have to plan super well and find somebody ready!!!  Yes...we're going to need your prayers.  This is going to be hard.. but like Zig said.. WE CAN DO HARD THINGS!!

I'm excited for this challenge.  It's going to be extremely hard to make sure around 200 missionaries are legal and to plan all their transportation all in spanish but it's all good.. Thank you for all your prayers and support!!!!  Read the words of God that have been preserved for our day!!:):)  Alma 38:5.. the scripture dad shared with me the day I went into the MTC.  We just need to put our trust in God and he will support us in our troubles and afflictions.  By putting our trust in Him we need to show Him that we love Him and that is by turning our lives over to Him.  I'm learning more and more everyday and I am so grateful for this opportunity.

September 15, 2014- Week of Miracles!

This has been such a miracle week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This week has been a miracle week.  We were able to meet many new people and teach so many lessons.  Our district is so unified and amazing.  Everyone is working so hard.  We were able to baptize the most AMAZING little girl!!!!!  She is 10 years old and comes from a part member family.  Her name is Julietta.  She is such an amazing example for her family.  Teaching her has been the greatest blessing.  She’s so cute.  The day before Julietta’s baptism, her mom asked her who she wanted to baptize her.  Julietta is super shy and in the cutest way she asked me to and I was filled with so much joy and love!!  She is so sincere and truly thinks about this gospel and how to apply it to her life.

Another miracle!  We did divisions and I was with Elder Fred and we were contacting.  Our first few were a little rough and nobody gave us the time of day.  Then we were so motivated to enter a house so we started contacting much more productively.  We contacted this house and I almost made it impossible for the lady to say no, but she said she was very sorry but to pass by her home the next day.  Discouraged we didn’t enter her house but still happy by how well the contact went, we asked her if we could bring this message of happiness to anyone she knew and she gave us the direction to her sister-in-laws house.  We went to her sister-in-laws house and told her that we sent to her and she invited us in and we had such a spiritual lesson and now her and her husband have a baptismal date as well as the primary contact that we went back to the next day.  Now we just have to get them to church!!!!

Transfers are next week and I'm pretty nervous.  I don't want to leave this area as it feels like I just got here but it's a good possibility I might be heading somewhere else.  We were blessed to be able to teach over 25 lessons this week and we took a member to 18 of them.  Spiritual overload!!

It's so amazing! THE MISSION IS SO GREAT!!! The Church is so true!! 1 Nephi 11:17 has changed my mission for the better.  We don't always need a reason to follow all the commandments of God.  We don't need to know the scriptures in and out and memorize everything.  What we do know is that we have a father in heaven that loves us!  Thank you for all the support.

September 8, 2014-Vale La Pena

Vale La Pena

Just another great week down here in good ol Comodoro Rivadavia.  Suns out..not too much wind..just a great week!

We moved in to our new pension.  I am so tired of packing it's ridiculous! haha but hey.. I'm getting a little better with cramming everything in my bags.  It was actually a miracle how we found our pension.  We were at district meeting Tuesday morning when we get a phone call from our investigator Alexìs' dad.  1. We were pumped he was calling us and  2.  He called us to tell us he found us a pension! Huge miracle.  We now live behind their grandparents.  It's this tiny red shack that has one roomish thing and a bathroom kinda thing.  We were just so excited that it was our investigator's family that we were like WOO WE'll TAKE IT.  We then realized that night when we had no heater, kitchen, or lights that we might have needed to look a little better.  Morning came and I put my hand on the window to hear what kind of deathly animal was making this awful rooster crow that I broke the window just putting my hand on it.  Haha it's a little fixer upper but every day it's getting better and better.

We truly do love our pension now. And we're living behind this old couple again. BONUS. Our first night they invited us over for some mate and tea and juice for us and the old man literally went through his life story.  Literally...he went year by year since he was 9 years old when he was kicked out of his uncles house then went to work and didn't meet his mom till he was 18 but by then there was no love or anything and he shook hands and went off again.  He talked about the 40's like it was yesterday!! I am so grateful to be able to serve here and meet people like this old couple .  It makes everything worth it when you can learn about the past of someone who has been through everything and then some and note they have 10 kids who all work hard and they are all married!!! I repeat 10 kids and all of them are married.  That does not happen here!! Even member's! So ya we are about to go to work!

We had stake conference this weekend and 2 of President daughters came down.  It was so fun talking with them.  One of them knows Lauren Watts and was told to give me a hug and Sister Roger's was sad when she had to tell her that we can't hug her.  Pretty funny.  Amazing conference.  President Rogers is truly a man of God who wants more than anything for people to have the opportunity to be sealed in the temple for time and all eternity.
Well sorry about the novel..wasn't planning and sharing all that but when you get lucky enough to not have a broken keyboard down here you have to take advantage.
Be happy this week..the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored and we're living in it..what more could you want?

Love you all,

Elder Cordero

September 1, 2014- Congrats on catching a big fish mom!!

Congrats on catching a big fish mom!!

Happy birthday dad!! What better way to spend it than camping, hunting, and fishing with the family!

Well this week has been amazing!  Honestly every week is fantastic out here..not gonna lie..sometimes it's soooo hard but at the end of the week I can´t help but smile.  We had so many miracles and my love for this gospel keeps growing.  I love hearing what everyone's doing and all that is going on back home.  I can´t believe there is going to be a wedding in December Kinny!  I'm so jealous you are all camping right now!  I can´t wait to fish again!  Gunner drew an elk tag? how tight!!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes.  I couldn't have asked for a better birthday out here.  I really tried to keep it on the down low but this ward is awesome.  Ended up eating 4 cakes and too much pizza.  I was thinking about it and I can't even describe how grateful I am for everything in life right.  I have the most amazing family with parents that sacrificed so much for us kids. I was raised in the gospel being able to watch and follow after the examples of the most amazing faithful members including all our extended family.  I am so excited to take everything that I am learning here and use it with a family of my own some day.  I love serving so much.  The joy that comes from serving is something I want to carry with me forever.  I am so grateful for everything in life but most importantly Jesus Christ and his eternal act of service in the atonement.
JULIETTA AND HER MOM CAME TO CHURCH!!

I love you all!
Go do temple work and pray we'll get a temple in the Patagonia!  That´s why I am here!!! Working for a temple!!
