April 28, 2014- 16 weeks-Feliz Cumpleaños:):)

Feliz Cumpleaños:):)

First off, happy birthday Mckinley!!!!!!!! I heard you're going down
to St. George this week. Way sweet!

What is up!?

Well this week has been bittersweet.  They did this big campaign thing
in Argentina that allowed anyone that needs medical treatment or
glasses to receive it for free.  But the thing is is that you have to
stand in line outside and they only help the first 150 people that day
and if you are not one of those you have to wait till the next day.
This went on for like two weeks and they actually helped sooooo many
people which was awesome.  So why is it important?  Well my comp
wanted glasses so we went last week and a member took us to stand in
line at 5:30 in the morning! It was SO cold!  Anyways we finally got
to the point where they were going to test us to see if we need
glasses which was at like 12 in the afternoon and there was a TV
camera right in my grill. haha We laughed..turned out I don't need
glasses and my comp doesn't really need them either but i guess he
just really wanted them. Ya i was kinda mad. haha but the next day we
were stopped a few times and were told that we were on TV!! hahaha we
made the Argentine News that broadcasts over all of Argentina!! So
that was awesome!

Saturday we were packed with lessons and we ended up having 3 full
meals!  One was pretty busche. It was an Peruvian family that fed us
rice and all the crap and intestines inside the chicken.  Basically
rubber with a nasty flavor.

Milagro´s is awesome.  She´s 10 and her family knows a lot about the
church but her parent's are not married but they fully support her
daughter joining the church.  We have this little homie Eury being
baptized on the 10 of May and we are almost positive Milagro will be
too that day.

TOMAS IS KILLING US.  When we teach him he loves every second and he
has built a lot of trust with us.  He broke up with his girlfriend for
good now and he said he would for sure go to church yesterday.  Ya
nope. Bailed last minute because he had work.  We should have 3 or 4
baptisms in May but these people need to realize the importance of
attending church!!!!!!

So guess what!? They are going to build a chapel in our area at the
start of next year!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more meeting in an old pizza
joint!!  We were so excited when the president of the branch announced
that!

Ramón is going to go to all of our lessons with us tomorrow and I know
he will help so much.  This guy has nothing but what he does have he´d
share it with everyone.  He's starting to sell his little birds he has
all of his house in order to buy food for two days.  His all time
dream since he was a little kid was to go to the United States but he
was never able to because of all the paperwork and the legal issues
before.  I told him once I return home and have some money i would
bring him here.

Oh mom! haha this less active family that we brought back to the
church now feeds us every Thursday and the mom is crazy!  She sales
finger nail polish and stuff and makeup and stuff and she always asks
me and Elder Salas if we want to buy anything.....like naw we're good.
haha but she gave me some eye shadow for you!  I told her you
wouldn't get it for probably two years and she insisted! haha so i
have some top of the line eye shadow for you;)

We met a lot of new people this week that seemed very interested that
we'll see tomorrow.

I love being a missionary and I love spreading the true gospel that is
on the earth right now.  We are so lucky to be a part of something so
special!! Oh and i can´t send pictures this week.  I forgot my camera
at the cabin.  Oh.. Elder Salas cut my hair!! haha i hate cutting my
hair so bad!!! But it turned out good so it's whatever!

Love you all and hope you have a good week,
Elder Lamb

April 21, 2012- Pascuas!

#Pascuas!!!!!!!!!
So sad, this 80 year old man without a dime in his pocket and no food
goes around and asks for scrap wood to stay warm.  We´ve been trying
to do the most we can for him.  Super funny guy and he honestly cuts
his own wood if we're not there.  Crazy!

Starting to need a haircut.

Whaddup everyone!! This week has been so sick and of course everything
is perfect until Sunday then it's just nervous breakdown for your
investigators to come to church.  I honestly want to go to all there
houses and wake them up!!! haha

So this week was great because we were able to focus a lot on pascuas
(Easter). It was great!  This one lady was just standing in the middle
of this pasture doing nothing carrying two large grocery bags.  It was
freezing so i asked if she needed help with anything and then we
started talking to her. Her names Brigida. We talked to her for like
15 minutes about Peru and her family because that's where she's from
then she opened her phone and boom! A picture of her when she was
baptized! haha We were like what the heck? She´s in our area and was
baptized and we had no idea who she was.  We went over to teach her
and she had a friend over.  We started teaching both of them focusing
on her friend and now he has a baptismal date.  Pretty awesome.  We
taught this other lady as well that has a bunch of little kids and we
were able to set a date for her to be baptized as well. The chances of
her attending church three times are pretty slim but we've gotten
pretty creative.  We now just tell them we'll pass by with a member of
our ward on Sunday to pick them up.  We just tell them instead of
asking if they could possibly make it.

So Ramón went from being a crazy drunk a month ago to now teaching in
church and gave a talk yesterday.  We were able to get 4 of our
investigator´s to church yesterday which was unreal!!! But bittersweet
because Tomas the Dominicana only needs to come one more time to
church and we thought yesterday he was for suuuuuure going to come.
Well he didn't and his baptism is pushed back another week.  But his
girlfriend came which was a huge surprise because she didn't want
anything to do with us, so it seemed, but she liked it and now we'll
focus on her as well.

The ward is bomb.  We have lunch every day now permanently scheduled
at members houses.  SO MUCH MEAT PASTA AND BREAD IT´S INSANE.  Turns
out the only english the kids in the street know is the f word and
mother haha and it's all in a British accent.  The teachers at the
school here don´t know how to speak english.  They just press play on
the computer and the kids learn british english.  It's hilarious
trying to see them say words like murder and ward.

Something kinda funny..this guy needed to write my first name on this
formum and I warned him it was difficult.  Well he spelt Brockton.
"Praoten".  I mean i thought Mcd's was bad with the names.

So ya a lot more happened but I've already written a novel.
Interesting fact-- the day we moved out of our pension to the other
one the two elders that stayed in the old pension were robbed and then
they were robbed again three days later.  oh and yesterday we were
walking to church and this building has sirens going off.  Then we saw
a chubby teenager run out of the building with a computer.... so that
was weird. The mouse was dragging on the dirt and everything. haha the
police were on it though.

I love telling people the significance of this week.  Jesus Christ
lives!! He already paid the price for all of us.  He already suffered!
All we need to do is use the atonement!  Life's good at the end of
the world!  This week we go to the most southern tip for a meeting.
Pretty stoked.

Love you all.  Oh and i definitely missed searching for my Easter
basket!  No doubt i would have been the first to find it.

April 14, 2014-Milagros!

What's good everyone?

This week was pretty chaotic and unsure.  We had transfers last monday
so Tres's companion left our area and Tres´s new companion forgot his
passport so he had to wait like 5 days in the mission home haha.  But
that meant that Tres was with us all week.  If you don´t know Tres and
I are cousins and the chances of us serving in the same country are
pretty small but let alone the same mission/zone/area/companions is
insane!  It was so much fun.  We could actually have fun and still
work way hard and I loved it.  He was in our area for a couple days
and we went to his area for a couple days.

More great news.  I weigh 180 pounds.  Like where was this during
baseball goodness.

I don´t have too much to say this week though.  On Saturday we did
service for this family in our ward and one of the sons is 19 and an
investigator.  His names Ezequil.  Way hard worker and super nice.
He´s married and has twin daughters that are like the Argentine
version of June and Ruby!! So cute!  Well we took off their whole roof
and added an extension to their house which was literally twice the
size as the house to start.  I was sick to my stomach building it
because it was just too jimmy rigged haha.  We have plywood as walls
and blankets blocking wind.  I welded the roof together with just
scraps of metal he could find lying around.  Super sketch haha but
it'll be alright.

Now for the subject line "Milagros."  Milagro means miracle.
Yesterday in church we were introduced to two women in our area that
weren´t members but had friends that were members that brought them to
church.  haha and guess what their names are!!  Milagro!! haha so
ironic and such a blessing!!! So i also found out just how little
baptisms our mission gets and it´s because our investigators have to
attend church three times before they are baptized.  Our mission only
had 9 in the whole month!  Pretty much they have to become fully
converted before they are baptized which makes sense because we have
enough menos activos running around.  My goal is to leave this area
with more people attending church than before and yesterday was a huge
blessing for us.

Oh and I thought Eli like died or something.  He's emailing my other
email.....come on now Eli.. wake up bro.

S/o to AF for whoopin on LP on puttin them in their place:)
S/o to english haha literally so grateful this is my first language!!
I love spanish but english is so important to have!

Love you all and this truly is the only true church on the Earth
today.  I wouldn´t be at the end of the world if it wasn't.  Thanks
for all the support!

Oh i also had one of the best meals of my life this week.  We had so
many chrizos on Saturday.  Like i probably had 7....toooo goooooooood.
Definitely something we'll be eating when I get back.

con amor,
Elder Lamb

PS. Momma!!! I miss you!!!!!!!!   im not kidding when i tell you
this!!! No one believes you are my mom when i show them the photos of
the family!!  And dad as well!! they always ask where my parents are
when i show them a piture of the family or just say aww todo hermanos.
like all your siblings! its awesome!  miss you guys a ton!  I miss
just hanging out and going out to eat.  I am learning how to do so
many things out here so thats awesome!! love you all!!! I will cook
and and grill so much when i get back!! Reegan! Emma West told me she
taught youre class and she loves you! Mccall said she was so happy
when you went up and hugged her in St. George!

Cooking on the Easy Bake Oven with Tres (Elder Tarwater)

Tres was not too happy with our area when he realized we didnt have
any pavement haha

April 7, 2014

How´s everyone doing?

Sometimes i´ll be walking in the street and just be like oh ya.. I´m a
missionary for La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos
Días and then I just get even more motivated to go out and work.  Just
that simple reminder that my full time job is to talk to people and to
invite them to eternal salvation is pretty sick.

This week has been a lot of ups and downs.  We had 3 baptisms lined up
this week but none of them came to conference so that was a bummer.
They are all solid though so next week we should for sure have some.

Conference was amazing!!! It was kinda different that I actually heard
every word this time around because usually we had sports and stuff
during the Saturday session.  I am so grateful we were able to see all
sessions.  Not gonna lie though, conference was a lot better at home
chillin on the couch with the family rather than listening to it in
spanish and then trying to read the english subtitles while still
trying to take notes on top of being starving! haha

We were blessed with some amazing contacts this week. Atleast 3 we can
see as being baptized very soon.  I was so happy when Elder L. Tom
Perry talked about how the common conception is to make everything
more complex when what we should really be doing is making it more
simple.  Our biggest points we hit when we teach a Catholic is the
Apostocia, priesthood authority, and baptism.  This past week we were
able to teach this lady that was catholic and her husband is inactive
and it was so spiritual.  Their house was so small that i had to stand
up and the husband sat on the floor.  They have just enough room for a
mattress and when they´re not sleeping they leave it on top of the
house.  Of course they have a flat screen and a Playstation though
like everyone else haha.  But i just made the gospel very simple.  I
told her why I am at the end of the world and that our church is very
new.  You can teach lessons all day but always the best spiritual
moments are when we stray from the lessons and just make what we
taught personal and simple.

Yesterday the most amazing missionary returned to his home with honor.
Elder Julcawonka de Peru.  Sooooo sick.  He has taught me so much
living in the same pension as him.  We had a lot of fun our last few
days and he worked his butt off all the way home as well.

I loved Elder Holland´s talk about how we are going to suffer
persecution and then he made it known that "IT IS WORTH IT." How true
is that!!
I also loved what Elder Neil L. Andersen said that as the world
changes its views and standards.."we do not!"

I loved the story President Eyring gave about his great grandfather
and the missions he served.  I´m only serving for two years and then
the plaque is off.  Why wouldn´t I work as hard as I can now?  His
great grandfather walked from Missouri to Utah to be released and then
to find out he was going to serve many more years.  That dedication is
inspiring!
Interesting fact- Elder Richard G. Scott translates his own talk to spanish!

Like mom said President Uchtdorf´s talk nailed it.  We need to be
grateful for the circumstances we are in.  And when he siad that our
gospel provides no true endings, only everlasting beginnings.

We had traslado´s yesterday and I am with Elder Salas for another
transfer. I´m gonna try harder to have more patience with him.  I
can´t blame him.  This is legit the first time he has had to really
grind and work and he is a good missionary.

Something kinda funny- All the gringos were all in one room of the
chapel surrounding a small TV for conference and the last session
Elder Tarwater and Chavvarria came right as the closing prayer was
being said.  They were like oh are they starting early and of course i
was like ya you´re right on time sit down.  Then after the prayer the
TV showed everyone in conference start to stand up just as Tres was
sitting down.  He was like why's everyone standing up. haha they
thought conference started at 7! Little stuff like that makes a
difference out here! haha

Oh! one more thing! this girl who i sat two people away from on the
plane ride from Georgia to Buenas Aires emailed me today!  I gave her
a pass along card with my email on it.  IDK how but she found my blog
and loved it! So huge S/O to mom for doing that.  She emailed me and
asked how i was doing and was impressed that i would leave my family
for 2 years for this.  What a blessing that is! This Church is so
simple and true! Just do what is right and let the consequences
follow.

Sorry for writing a novel.  Con amor ,
Elder Lamb :)
